Okay, this is the list I have so far from Suzy....... -Amy & Beau go to Marne -Comet & Fearless (and maybe Cookie) to Crysta in Florida -Jazz, Fawkes & Rebel to Erin -the degus to Chintuition in Michigan -that leaves Mickey, Raisinette, Roo (and maybe Cookie) without specified homes to go to
I know Sumiko will be carpooling home and I don't know how many extra cages she can fit besides the 3 boys. My friend Summer can take in 5-7 chins, but they would also need to be RR to CA. Any word on anyone that can take in the 4 that are left?

If there was any way to get them to NC, I wouldn't mind giving them a home. The only problem I see is getting them here.

Awe!!!!! I think there have been so many posts and pages, we just dern forgot you, LOL!!! How many and which of the last 4 can you take?
It's looks like Nebraska is northeast to you in Colorado. Maybe You and suzy could just meet.
Question, are the trio of boys coming with a cage? I'm thinking no, but I thought I'd ask.

Do you have an alternate number for your vet? I have been trying to call but it's disconnected.

John, where are you located? Sumiko doesn't have any space to foster, so if she brings home the trio from St. Joseph, MO to Manteca, CA on March 11th, I need to be able to have them picked up by me or possibly RR to closer to me. I'm in San Diego and it would be a 15 hour round trip for me from San Diego to Manteca and back. If anyone can pick them up in Manteca and drive them to as far as they can, I can meet the person at a certain location. I can't leave them at Sumiko's until April because she just doesn't have room. You are so welcome Suzy Sorry for the late reply,....... I didn't even get on the computer, yesterday, ....... I am in Simi Valley. A drive to Manteca would be a bit too much for me, but I could do a leg to Bakersfield, and back to S.V., or possibly to Fresno, and back, depending on a firm date (weekends in March are not good for me). I couldn't keep them very long in Simi Valley though. Let me know if this helps. John

I don't know anything about who's going where since I'm just helping getting them from their current owner and with coordinating transportation. The agreement was between the owner and Marne's rescue. The rescue has the final say. The boys can come with their current cage but I hope they'll get something better soon since it's the rusty wire cage.

I had a DUH moment and remember the pictures of the cages. Don't worry about sending one.
Thank you so much for offering to help John. Sumiko is tight on space and I need to pick them up next Wednesday.

Originally I thought you were coming from Manteca and needed someone to drive to San Diego. I have a Diesel Jetta, that gets great mileage, on long trips like that, but may not have room for huge cages. (probably a single level FN, max) I use smaller, but nice wire travel cages, when I take my chinchilla anywhere. How many cages will be transported on the California leg of the railroad? (still haven't read the whole thread ) Ha, Ha! Well, I just looked at the map, again, and Manteca isn't that much farther than Fresno, ......... still pretty long though! Hmmmm, ................. Not sure if I could do the whole trip, in the time I have that day............ John

John, I could share the trip with you. The 3 boys will actually be picked up from Where Sumiko works in Modesto. If you can pick them up, I can meet you at a certain point. I would be so happy to not have to make the drive by myself. Let me know what you can do and I can work with you. Thanks!!!

That sounds possible, as Modesto is getting a bit closer. Are all of the chinchillas going to be in one cage, and what are the dimensions of that cage? Nothing worse than finding out a cage doesn't fit, at the last minute! Let me crunch some mileage numbers, and elapsed time numbers, to see if I could do it. John

The boys are not coming with a cage. They will be in a carrier for transport. If you go to page 1 and look at the pictures you'll understand why. If you can help that day, I cannot tell you how awesome that would be. Just let me know where you'd like to meet. Thanks John!!

I'm getting conflicting emails at the moment, but we're working to get all the chins out asap. I have to pend all applications until we see who all is here, because I'd hate to approve an application for chins that are not under our care.
Crysta, we will take Comet and Fearless here, if we can get a RR worked out to you for them ASAP that would be preferable. I figured out I will have 6 less cages to clean, and then 4 new ones counting this pair, so it will be doable for a little bit, though we need to keep in mind the weather will be heating up soon.
And then Beau and Amy, and if there are any others like say Mickey.

I'm leaving for my trip to St. Joseph this evening so if someone can confirm whether or not I need to bring these three back with me, that would be great. I have a 4-hole carrier to bring them to CA but whoever picks them up from me would need to bring a carrier for their leg of the RR.

I wish I knew Sumiko. I found out last night that things weren't set in stone and I thought that they were. I have no idea now what is going on.

Oh goodness Erin. Is that like, we don't know if these chins are still needing a home, or just that things have possibly changed for you guys in California? Marne, that will work. I will try my best to put together a railroad. I have some people in New Orleans that may be willing to help, but as for the Texas area I'm not sure if I know of anyone. I will try to work some magic on facebook and my other forums to see what I can come up with. If all else fails I do have some vacation time that I can take and I will rent a car and drive out there myself. I really don't want it to come to that because money is tight and that definitely won't be a cheap trip, but I will do what I have to. Unfortunately that wouldn't be for at least 2 months though as we are REALLY short handed right now and are in the process of hiring two new people. Until they are trained I'm pretty much working every day of the week. >.<

I found out late last night that the person that was going to drive the chins to Sumiko, was not going to do it. I've been thinking for a few days that the plans were set in stone. Sumiko is doing us a HUGE favor by bringing the boys home for us and we have all worked hard for this to happen. All I can say, is I hope things can get worked out.

Ok. Well, I know Kimberly (who has Pooh) is coming out here at some point, and she might be able to bring them to Houston if someone can meet her there immediately. I'm not sure her hubby would appreciate two extra chins. lol
We are unsure as to the chins because the lady who has them has mentioned giving two to a coworker to 'ease our burden of travel'. So we are trying to get ahold of her to tell her NOT to give ANYONE away. I have offered her a small donation to reserve the chins, but have not heard from her. It's obviously distressing to everyone involved, we want to save them all.
If we can all just try to breathe and relax and focus on getting the chins out, that would help me greatly. And I'm sure the chins will feel the good vibes.
Once we can get them out, we are aiming for getting them out by Friday, we will be able to see who can go where. If it comes to it, I can hold them here for a few days, but not much longer as the chins who are coming here, plus the pair from OKC are the last chins I can currently admit. I have found foster homes and an adoptive home for 5 chins here.
If I can find a foster home (an experienced foster home) for Princess and Adara, I will consider placing them. They have special needs, though, considering they occasionally have short 1-second seizures as a result of severe malnourishment over a long term.
If I can find them a foster home, I can hold the trio for a little longer.
