Oh, I did not think plane because I will not 'ship' a chinchilla. I will only transport a chinchilla by car.

What if Andrea could fly on a plane with Berkly in a carrier? That could work out but ahh the decisions aren't up to me. I wish Burkley the best of luck and I hope he finds a really good loving RESPONSIBLE home -Anna c:

airlines dont allow rodents on the plane not in carriers , not in bags
There is some talk about classifying chinchillas as something new , but I forget the details about that.
The other thing is ,,,I wouldnt trust the CARGO with or for any animal, and they wouldnt allow a chinnie or guinea pigs for example anyway....until winter is over.
The few airlines that will even condsider this ...would have a small window of time...not in winter, not in summer

Yeah, it can not be over 85 at any point along the way, and they make the chins fly with the baggage. It's good to avoid at all costs, if possible. We had to fly a chin from Hawaii to Michigan, and I was a nervous wreck the entire time. Not to mention the stress for poor Ryu. Then when Poppy flew down, I was also a nervous wreck again. I'm very thankful she made it here safely, they had her play--running around the apartment for hours until she about collapsed from exhaustion. And it is much hotter here than Seattle (or, it was that day). That is where all the crazy car trips come in. lol

Awww - how sad!!! A chinchilla for sure is no "baggage"! I also thought in a carrier it could work. They really have to change those rules!!! Once I heard from an airline JUST for animals - but it was made just for cats and dogs. Okay, if one of us here will become a millionaire one day, this would be a good idea: to start a rodent airline, with seats for the owners or people who supervise during the flight. That would help a lot of rescues I guess!! Hugs Ilka
