So I was contacted by NOLA chins about 3 females in West Virginia who were in need of rescue. Apparently they were being bred years ago, and now the owner was going to let them go outside THAT NIGHT if someone didn't pick them up. The male died 3 years ago after an attempted neuter went horribly wrong. They are currently at a pet store. Two women picked them up and got them to safety while we worked on arranging the transport. So, I have a volunteer transporting them the 3 hours here to our rescue. Get this - one looks completely familiar and I swear I have heard the names somewhere...likely on a chin forum. Pictures attached. The one who looks familiar is ''Spot'' - the mosaic with the spot on her bum. The other is her daughter Athena, and Lola the ebony.

I hate it always when I hear someone told rescuers they "would let them outside THAT day or night", when nobody would pick them up. I heard that before from our rescue friends in the states and it always seems so stupid to me. (here in my country I guess nobody would say something like that, cause laws for animal protection are strict and people know, they would get trouble - so here they prefer to let baskets or cardboards with pets in front of the shelters doors at night ) Anyway - glad they will come to you, they look beautiful!! Well, the names I also heard here and there for Chinchillas - it's not that rare - but if you think you know the names from a trio of one family, it would be of course interesting where you have seen them before!! ~ Ilka ~

Sadly we weren't able to save them all. The ebony, Lola was basically stolen by the woman who was keeping them at the shop. She told my transport volunteer that she chewed through the carrier and she "left the door open". She is likely still at the store for breeding or she is trying to sell her. She told my volunteer to go to hell after she wanted to look for her so she had to leave with the two.
I've contacted local animal control and we may have to contact the police department if AC can't do anything...I'll follow up when they open. Even if they go with the complaint that the animals in the pet store aren't any better off care wise when she treated the other the way she did.
The shop is Valley pets and supplies in Winfield West Virginia...her name is Melinda. I hope she gets what's coming to her.
The two ladies we did get are beautiful. I'll update photos soon. They're both mosaics with heavy markings. Sadly Athena has watery eyes. No sign of URI, I'm worried sick its teeth. She has a vet appointment soon..

Mandy When I hear these stories and over the years Ive heard many just like this I dont even know how to respond..it boggles the mind. Anyway I was gonna write you in private but Ill do it here instead Every year my Christmas CD and also a DVD of my videos on youtube sell pretty well .. and I give 20 percent to a rescue of my choice Over the years I have donated monies from my work to Applewood, Forever Feisty and 2 years to Whimsy. I would like to choose you and your rescue this year All I ask is that somewhere on your website you show the album, or even have a link to samples etc You know my background in the music business but if you would need a description... ya know like Seinfeld, or whatever Ill get that to you Let me know if you are interested in this Jamie

That'd be wonderful, Jamie! I'd be happy to share the link/descriptions on our site and FB page.
The officer I spoke to wasn't in today. At this point I know it's hopeless, but I can't let little Lola go down without a fight. It feels disrespectful otherwise.

Minnie possibly has a home. Lola still has not been located. Athena is getting antibiotic drops in her eyes, as well as baytril injections. No real improvement. We will be bringing her in for an xray to confirm our worst thoughts of this being dental disease..

Something would have eaten him! So happy I brought him home!<3
