Someone posted a thread on another chinchilla forum regarding two 15 yr. old chinchillas she needs to find a home for. Here is her post.
Hi,
We have a pair of Chins which we've had for close to 15 years now. Unfortunately, our whole household has developed increasingly severe allergies to them and we must find a new home for them or surrender them to the humane society. We have contacted a number of Chinchilla rescue organizations, but due to our animals' age they're not able to help us. Already taking daily antihistamines without relief, one child with severe asthma, and two of us also have epi pens to other allergens - it's finally time.
Both animals are in very good health. They'll come with everything we have for them - feed, bedding, books, bath sand and ball, toys, carrying cage, etc. The cage is older but is yours if you want it as well. Pictures are available by email. The female is beige, and skittish but not aggressive. The male is gray, very friendly and good with kids. They both love to take raisins from your fingers, and our barely-two year old gives them raisins without fear.
We live in Columbia, MD. For more information or for pictures, please contact me by email at marcie79@hotmail.com.
Thanks,
Marcie
I did ask if the chins are housed together if either one is fixed but I have not yet gotten an answer. If someone is interested in adopting them please keep in mind they may have to be separated if one or the other isn't fixed. I know someone who adopted a 18 yr. old chin who in fact was pregnant so it's still possible at that age. The thought of separating chins who have been together breaks my heart so I am hoping the owner says one or the other is fixed (asked the question already but have not gotten an answer yet).
I offered to take in the chins if a local home can't be found (if a railroad could be put together to get them closer to me).
