My friend Leah lives in Merced, CA and she has offered to take in a pair. She has room for one extra cage. If we can work a RR to California, she can take a pair and if need be have the trio of boys RR to her as well and I can possibly drive and pick them up from her or if Summer can RR from Leah to her in Bakersfield or meet me closer, that may work. If it's possible, I'll contact Summer and I'll also ask her if she has room. Do the degus have a home? I have no idea about them, but if they still need a home, I can ask around.

One thing the chin community can do is get together and help when needed. ;D Erin I wanted to thank you for becoming part of this family. I hope you find that the people here are as special as I feel they are. When I started this place I wanted to have a place that wasnt about the usual on forums, bickering about 1 or 2 raisins, or how a cage had no fleece tunnels... but about how amazing these chinnies and other pets are I wanted us to feel a camaraderie and understanding, a place where people could go for resources but the most important thing was not only being "rescue friendly" but rescue ACTIVE we have the most amazing rescuers and members in the world I believe here please add your name to the member rescue page ...or send me the info and I will do it . ( I edit the pages so they are uniform) again welcome... nope NOT a guest anymore Jamie

Anyone near San Antonio who could bring a couple a little more west? Also, I didn't see anything mentioning it, but do we have anyone to get any of the chins closer to Marne? I would still like to take in Comet and Fearless if I can get to them. I could drive over to the Pensacola, FL area which is 5 hrs. from me. If we could find one, or two people in between (TX, Mississippi, Louisiana area) I think we could make it work.
I'm not sure if anyone else in FL would be interested in taking any, but if you are in southern FL I could bring them to Jacksonville, or even a bit further south and get them pretty close to you.

I'm in Houston and might be able to do some transport towards Florida. Possibly I could pick up in San Antonio, over night them here and then head east the next day. Baton Rouge would be about as far as I could get them.

I can drive a couple hours west from San Antonio. I will be driving up to Oklahoma City in the next couple weeks. So I can go up there and back here. Then a couple days later I can drive about 2 hours west of San Antonio, or I guess east, but not both because I know Nikolai will not do well with that much driving. To Oklahoma City is 7 1/2 hours, so 15 hours round trip.

I can bring Comet and Fearless back with me if someone can meet me within a couple days to get them to Crysta. I will be at capacity with Beau and his buddy and the pair from OK City, and I do mean at capacity.

If you have the ability to hold them for a few days, just not the cage space, (if whoever is meeting you couldn't meet you for a few days) I would be willing to ship you a temp cage that you could just send with them back to me.
Just throwing another option out there in case. I know you're up to your ears in chins.

Ok, that would work out. I have travel cages, but they're not really big enough for a pair for any length of time. Thank you!

In case, do you have extra shelves or ledges?

I also have some slightly used hammocks here, so they'd have some comfort items as well. And I can sew and have so many scraps and left over bits from other cage sets. As long as you don't mind whether they have a complete matching set. lol

Why in the world would I care about that? Ok, if the railroad works itself out I'll get that cage to you. Thanks!

Thought I'll update on who can help in the upper Midwest. I already got a confirmation from: -Bobbie w/Bobbie chinchillas (Eau Claire, WI) - she has 3 open cages, also can take the 2 degus. I'll be able to bring them to her. -Kari with Summer's Chinchillas (Brainerd, MN)- she is able to take as many that is needing her help, she is also able to take the 2 degus. A friend of hers has degus and can help out on knowledgre. -Myself - I can only take 3 more chins. I have plenty of cages and already picked up a FN 142 today.
Jean, that's awesome you're donating.
