A group of people on Jean's Facebook group ( www.facebook.com/groups/Tjschinchillasupplies/ ) got together to help rescue a group of 3 chinchillas located in Minnesota. What started off as a discussion about 3 chins posted on Craigslist/Hoobly ( www.hoobly.com/0/0/1894562.html ) and how filthy they were, quickly turned into a rescue. They got the price down to $200 for all 3 chinchillas. They've set up a foster/possible permanent home for the boy. The 2 girls have a foster home set up (possibly a permanent home) but not certain just yet. A chip-in was started ( save3chinsfromcraigslist.chipin.com/minnesota-craigslist-chinchilla-rescue ) and members got together, shared it and chipped-in. The money was collected ($200) to cover the cost of the chins and they will be picked up on Sunday. The chip-in has been extended through the 18th to help cover the cost of vet bills. An experienced vet has been contacted and has agreed to do the check ups for $38 a chin. They will be on watch for 2 days or so to determine if a vet check-up is needed right away. If not, then the money collected will go to the foster homes to cover any extra expenses to help they 3 cuties recover. If this post is against any rules, please feel free to edit it or remove it.

I'm just sharing the info here, on my facebook, and twitter and spreading the word of the chip-in. Occasionally tossing in my 2 cents, the rescue it's self I can't take credit for. =)
Those poor babies do need a bath though.

I just looked at the ad - poor babies, first they are all in the same cage, boys and girls and that wheel, you can see from the pic how much her poor back is arching... and ironic that the ad says they come with a dust bath! Soooooo glad the chinchilla community has come together once again to save these babies.... which reminds me, I initiated a conversation on a site here called pre loved with a woman local to me looking to re-home two chins...she answered really quickly at first, we got talking and I said I'd be happy to help her rehome through my contacts etc, if not take them myself...I then found out they were mixed pair living together and i sent (what I thought) was a polite message covering all possibilities (ie she could know all about breeding and the male snipped) about mixed sexed pairs and still of course wanting to help....that was over a week ago and I've not heard from her since...call me cynical, but I bet she's took offense to me saying boys and girls shouldn't live together and now doesn't want my help...I hope not, I'll give her another week, then I'll contact her again if she hasn't replied

I would say that she did take offense to it Amy.
Those in contact with this lady haven't said much to her about the boy living with the girls because everyone was afraid she might take offense and back out.

Update taken from Tj's Chinchilla Supplies facebook page.
FULL NAMES FOR THE RESCUES ARE: Tj's Hope (Mosaic), Tj's Faith (Dark standard aka the sprayer) and Tj's Grace (the light standard). Their names has been picked by everyone from TJ's Chinchillas group. Again thank you all for chipping in for these 3 to get a chance for a better life. So far besides needing some major work on their fur, they had some light brown poo last night. Poo were small, but not squishy nor slimy. They have been given some papaya laced with acidopholis powder last night and that seem to get a bit darker. Hope and Grace is always hanging out on the highest shelf (good sign) and Faith seems to be on her own on the very bottom corner.
There are video of these guys posted on Tj's Chinchillas Supplies facebook page as well. Feel free to join the page and look at them. =) Tj's Faith was quite the character last night and didn't want to come out of their old cage. She sprays...a lot.

Here is a picture of the 3 all cuddled together. (Squished in the corner is Tj's Faith. Tj's Hope is in the front. Tj's Grace is toward to right side of the picture) This was after their 3rd dust/corn starch bath. This picture is to show how dirty they were. After her 3rd dust/corn starch bath, she is still yellow. Tj's Faith has quite the matted up tummy as well.

The lady who is fostering them at the moment, isn't really a rescue. =) Just an amazing chin owner with a big heart

Hi, finally got a chance after updating every post to jump on here hehehe. Thought I'll do a quick intro, I'm Alena- some of you know me by Wan from FB. Yep I'm the one that's got the 3 chinnies at my house. Well all 3 are doing much better than I originally thought. Faith decided to get curious last night and wanted to come out to explore. It was so cute yet funny at the same time because she did that head popping up and down like a little kitten trying to jump up a shelf, except Faith was needing to jump down a shelf. Eventually she made it out the cage and I gave her a tiny area to check out. She would jump in and out of that cage (at least I don't have to chase her and catch her right hehehe). One thing I am noticing is they don't know how to get up or down shelves very well. The gaps I have between ledges and shelves are like what my chins have, however these 3 has issues getting around. I mean they will get around eventually, but I do see that they are trying harder than the 4 in my herd. They must not be used to ledges or something. I would like to post Faith's private part for a 2nd opinion if she is a she or a he. I compared her to my male and it looks like a she to me, however someone said it looks like a he. So I'll see if Bonnie can extract the close up pic from fb and put it on here for everyone to look.
