Whoa. That is... really shocking. This may sound like a stupid thing to say, but I really don't have anything else to say. Is there anything any of us could do to help? x.x

I'm just gald they are safe now!!! I am still too shocked about this pic. Wonder how ALL this babies became fur chewer - or did they chew each other from boredom? From bad or dirty conditions or less care (like no dust bath or junk food) I would had expected fur with mats or whatever - but never such chewed fur! ~ Ilka ~

Makes me so sad to see chins mistreated. Their fur is horrible, the 3 that I have here are the same way, matted, pee and poo stains. Makes me wonder how people can be so cruel. Glad you have them now.

It makes me want to bring in my chins to show this woman and show bring the chins she dropped off. And ask her "Do you see a difference?"
How are they doing now?

That is really sad. I do have to admit I had no idea how to care for a chinchilla when my son brought one home so I looked up what kind of diet they needed and while researching that I found that they needed to bathe in dust and plenty of exercise. The only exotic animals I have ever cared for is ferrets. And honestly I figured it couldn't be much different boy was I ever wrong....lol So am I so glad that I found this place with so many caring and helpful people. And here in a week when I get my tax money I am going to spend quit a bit on Wakka I just love him so much and I want to spoil him and let me just say he is pretty spoiled now....lol My friend's son has Wakka's brother and she didn't know how much care they needed either so I am helping her with what I read and things I have found on this site and even sending her links to sites that have care sheets and list proper toys and such for him. I have even gave her a link to this site and I hope she joins but if not she knows that if she has a question about him that I will do everything I can to find the answer and help her. She just wants to make sure that he is taken care of properly and sometimes even though we want to believe that our kids will they get busy with being a teenager and sometimes don't make the time they thought they would when they first got the animal and that's where the parents need to step in and make sure that the animal is happy and is being taken care of even if they have to do it. I mean hey we as parents could have said no to the pet and since we didn't say no we have to be responsible for the pets. In my situation it was mom my friends got me a birthday present and the two days later we had a baby chin. To be honest I have been the soul care giver for Wakka my son did get him out and play with him before the accident but not enough and I am the one who cleans his cage every 3 days but I won't allow him to live in a dirty cage because I refuse to live in a dirty house. So I started getting him out with me every day before I went to class for a few hours and then when I got home he got playtime. I have assumed complete responsibility for Wakka as all people should do for any of their pets. Would these people like to live in poor conditions and not get to bathe properly and just be given rationed food within a group of people? I treat my pets just like they are my kids because that is what they become kids that will grow up but not leave home...lol
