I don't get that, unless, maybe, they are moving overseas. I mean, ditch the furniture and bring your furry family members!

Josh, when you take on that many at one time you have to know exactly what you are getting into. I know you want to help, but now you are getting into larger numbers, especially in a short period of time. Do you have a vet fund? If not, you need to start saving money now. With that many rescues at once you may very well have vet bills in the $1,000's, especially if these chins weren't well taken care of. Please don't get in over your head, for the sake of yourself and these chins.
Also, you will quickly run out of food, hay, wood, etc. Do you have access to a feed store where you can buy food and hay in bulk? Depending on what you feed you usually have to order in advance and it will take at least a week for the food to come in.

Yea I have about 8 people around my area that will take one as a Foster I gave them a heads up.My Brother in law is a vet he checks my chins out in his spare time he helps in the rescue, We always got 50 pounds of food located here Are agway keeps food in there store.Yea if all 12 Chinchillas had to stay with me GOD i would be to over my head. Its just bad they move they just ditch them like nothing.

Wow. So are you are rescue josh, or helping a rescue out? Or just going to help re-home these chins? Either way it's great that you are helping. i had the thoughts as Crysta about you taking on 12 chins, but it sounds like you have a plan and they are not all coming to live with you

People are fostering them? Are you paying for all the supplies that the fosters are going to need? Or are they adopting them?

To me, that is adopting them, not fostering them!

i have been told that velvets should never be bred together, so considering my boy is a velvet and so is his sister and they were allowed to bred i can see bad things in their future hope the chinnies you get will be as helathy as possible

lol Bonnie. Some foster homes provide everything, but some rescues (like us) provide everything to the foster homes. It just depends on how they are organized and set up. I had the same thought as you, that's why we do it the way we do. That's so great your brother-in-law is a vet and he's taking care of the chins for you. Be prepared to hand feed, try to get Critical Care, that is my recommendation. I think of everything, critical care and alfalfa hay are two really good things to have on hand. Since your b-i-l is a vet, you shouldn't have to worry about having medicine on hand, if you can get it when you need it, and not have to wait. UGH for inbred chins. It makes me sick to think about right now. Thank you for saving them.

I alsoprovide everything for my foster homes. The chins come with a cage, 2 fleece liners, water bottle, hay, food, wood, etc. If the chins need vet care while in a foster's care I also pay for that.

i spoke with this young lady...she hasn't called me back. i have been trying to get a few people to take one in from another site. she was supposed to call me today, because she was going to her sisters near my home. i told her that i would not foster, but adopt. i would do that before i paid the lady that i wrote about in another post...
she has to move, suddenly, or so she said, and doesn't even know where she's going. we spoke for a good while. i really wanted to help, if only to stop the breeding of all of these chins...i will give her another call in the morning...i hope i can remember her name, lol. inbox me, please, if anyone knows it. smh!

Us, too. I knew there was another rescue that did it, I'm so sorry I couldn't remember who it was! I have to tell you again, I am so glad that you are open in that area. When we were there, it seemed like there were chins everywhere needing to be rescued, and we weren't yet able to open our own rescue. So I'm very glad you are there. I know Dr. Perreault would be so thrilled, he was the best vet we've ever had. Eeep. I hope the lady will get in touch and you can get the chins out!
