We have a few chins here that have been here for awhile and are healthy, eating well, gaining weight, etc. but are lacking in the friendliness aspect. These are chins that haven't been handled much, or at all, until they got here.
Two are females (bonded pair) are 3 yrs old and didn't even have a name (they were used for breeding purposes by a BYB until the BYB decided it wasn't a lucrative business anymore). They are both nice enough (not bitey) but just haven't been handled enough. They are pretty skittish, but once again, not aggressive.
The other is a male who attacked his long time "life mate". He can't ever be housed with chins again but is starting to come around towards people. He isn't nippy, but has been aggressive in the past (grunting, lunging or pushing you away). He has gotten soooooooo much better, but I think with more one on one attention he would be able to get even friendlier.
I am looking for foster homes within 100 miles of Jacksonville, FL. I ask that you have chinchilla experience, and a love for the little guys. The cage, food, hay, treats, etc. are all provided by me (unless you have a cage that you would prefer to use, as long as it is chin safe) as well as any vet care that may be needed. I do have an application for you to fill out, and you have to be ok with me doing a home visit. I also ask that you keep in touch with me often so I know exactly how they are doing.
Please be aware that I am not pawning off chins because they aren't "perfect". All the chins here get one on one attention, but with someone who has the time to give them even more attention I believe these chins can blossom into wonderful pets.
